Deal: Patch reader "glwood57" recommends the $5 specials at the Varsity Inn at 605 E. Eighth St. The Varsity Inn is a breakfast and lunch hot spot at the heart of downtown Ocean City.

Good through: Open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

Deal: Patch reader and Ocean City Director of Public Relations Mark Soifer recommends the "best book deal in town": Rhyme and Punishment: The Biography of Martin Z. Mollusk, available for $5 at Sun Rose Book Store at 756 Asbury Ave. or from City Public Relations, City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave., 609-525-9300. Why, exactly, a frugal family would need an epic poem about an imaginary crustacean Soifer did not explain. But the proceeds do benefit the Ocean City Food Cupboard.

Deal: Patch reader Mark Roberts says the "best store on the Boardwalk for clothing deals" is Marty's. Signs on the window list kids' tees for $5, shoes for $10 and swimsuits at $10 (for each piece), among other discounts.
