Drink a Little "FU Sandy" to Help Storm Relief

Time for a pint: Eighty-six and a half kegs of a special brew created by New Jersey's Flying Fish Brewery, dedicated to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, have been on tap since the weekend.

Called FU Sandy (the "FU" stands for Forever Unloved, of course), the hybrid white ale was made in part as a fundraiser for New Jersey storm relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy devastation. Flying Fish is hoping to raise $50,000 from the beer and merchandise sales.

Flying Fish first announced FU Sandy on Dec. 20, and now the list of where the beer is on tap is finalized, with taps at Passion Vines and Applebee's in Somers Point the closest places to sample the new brew. FU Sandy is not bottled and is available only on tap.

The Flying Fish Brewery is Jersey through and through, creating several beers based around the New Jersey Turnpike exits, each with a nod toward the history of the area.

The brewer described the ale contents this way:

"Brewed with a 50/50 blend of Two Row Pale Malt and American White Wheat. It is hopped with experimental hop ADHA 483, donated by the American Dwarf Hop Association, which has never been used in a beer before this one. Muller and Head Brewer Casey Hughes expect a beautiful, tropical nose of mangoes and guavas that will accentuate the beer’s soft mouthfeel and contribute to a truly one-of-a-kind ale."
