Holiday Events in Ocean City Continue Through Christmas

THURSDAY, DEC. 22

The public is invited to celebrate the winter solstice on Dec. 22 with  on the . The suggested donation is $15, and all proceeds benefit the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Southern Division. The fundraiser is made possible by the sponsorship of . The yoga practice starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a drum circle at about 8 p.m.

FRIDAY, DEC. 23

The final Hospitality Night on downtown Asbury Avenue has free horse and carriage rides, evening shopping specials, carolers, Santa and more 5 to 8 p.m.

The presents its second annual at 8 p.m. Friday. The event features local performers singing Christmas songs and reading the works of Charles Dickens, Dylan Thomas, O.Henry, Truman Capote, Dr. Seuss and more. Event begins at 8 p.m. Call (609) 457-6686. Tickets are $10. Event is sponsored by Ocean City Councilman, Keith Hartzell. Traditional holiday refreshments will be served.


SUNDAY, DEC. 25

For the 22nd consecutive year, Peaches and Mike Lukens and a host of volunteers will serve to hundreds of people who don't have anywhere else to go, or just need a hot meal and company. The free home-cooked buffet dinner is held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at .  If you'd like to help, donations of turkeys, hams and desserts will be accepted. Call Mike or Peaches at (609) 398-8781. For those interested, a church service will be held at St. Peter's Sanctuary starting 10 a.m.

 

ONGOING EVENTS

The  features with 27 quilts from its collection. Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated. Through Dec. 30. The Museum's 2011-2012 Calendar is now on sale for $8.50. It can be shipped as a gift for an additional charge.

The , presents a Petite Show of Miniature Paintings by area artists. The gallery is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (609) -814-0308. Through December.
