Halloween Parade Set for Thursday Night

Boy Scout Troop 32 will be collecting donations for the Food Cupboard during the parade.

The city's annual parade proceeds down Asbury Avenue from Sixth to 11th streets starting at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 25).

The Ocean City Exchange Club has sponsored the annual event for more than 65 years. It features an array of costumed characters competing for prizes, bands, floats, cheerleaders and drill teams.

Anybody can participate, but must first register online at www.ochp.blogspot.com. Call 800-813-5580. There is no registration in person at the Ocean City Sentinel as in previous years.

Thursday night's forecast calls for low temperatures in the mid-50s, light east winds and no rain.

During the parade, local Boy Scout Troop 32 will once again collect donations of food or money for the Ocean City Ecumenical Food Cupboard.

Any non-perishable food item or money can be donated by giving it to local Boy Scouts who will be marching along the parade route.

The scouts remind potential contributors that just prior to Thanksgiving is an especially tough time for those who cannot afford it.  Scouts will be walking alongside a pick-up truck, where leaders can combine the items to be delivered to the Food Cupboard at the finish of the parade. Call Scott Ruch, the assistant scoutmaster at 609-399-7391 or email ocbrassman@aol.com for more information.
