Arts Center Invites Submissions to Juried Art Show

The Ocean City Arts Center show includes cash prizes.

The annual Juried Art Show will be held at the Ocean City Arts Center throughout November.

Art will be received for judging Oct. 8 through Oct. 26.

Prizes are:

  • Best of Show: $200
  • Second Place: $100
  • Third Place: $100
  • Four Honorable Mentions: $50 each.

Artists may submit up to two works that have been completed in the past three years.  Eligible mediums are watercolor, pastels, mixed media, drawing and printmaking.

All work must be wired and ready to hang. Art is also judged on the framing and presentation of the work.

"Last year we received a record-breaking 120 entries and about 50 paintings were accepted," Executive Director Rosalyn Lifshin said.

Atlantic County artist Rita Michalenko won Best of Show for her pastel "Fallen Oak" and went on to host a solo exhibit in August 2012. The Juried Art Show is a great venue for artists to display their works and go on to be featured in gallery exhibitions.

All work will be for sale. An awards ceremony will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 7 pm to 8:30 pm. The public is invited.

For further information or to receive an application, visit the website at www.oceancityartscenter.org or call (609) 399-7628.  The Ocean City Arts Center is located in the Community Center at 1735 Simpson Avenue and is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 9 pm and Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm.
