Shore Flicks Starts Summer Season in Monmouth County, LBI

Shore Flicks' Free Summer Movie Series is returning this summer. The outdoor movie program will feature more than 55 nights of movies in a dozen towns throughout Monmouth County plus Long Beach Island.

The series kicks off June 21 at Keyport’s Waterfront Park with Madagascar 3. Other towns participating this summer are Asbury Park, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Howell, Middletown, Neptune, Ocean Grove, Oceanport, Red Bank, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury, Spring Lake, and Beach Haven on Long Beach Island. (Full schedule here.)

This summer's movie lineup includes ‘80s favorites like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Ghostbusters, as well as recent animated smashes Lego Movie, Frozen, and Monsters University. Cult favorites Anchorman, Young Frankenstein, and Napoleon Dynamite are new to the Free Summer Movie
Series this year.

“It’s always fun to hear people quoting their favorite lines,” noted Brustowicz. “It’s a great experience to share that with others.”

Once again one of the highlights of the schedule is the original summer blockbuster, Jaws. “Jaws has become a Jersey Shore tradition,” said Brustowicz. “It’s to the point where we can’t not show Jaws on the beach.”

As in previous years, each night Shore Flicks will be collecting non-perishable food items at the New Jersey Natural Gas Food Drive table. These donations will be distributed to food banks and pantries throughout the area. Over the last several summers Shore Flicks has collected several tons of food at the Free Summer Movie Series.

Recipient of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Spinnaker Award for Community Service, Shore Flicks has been providing outdoor movie entertainment in Monmouth County and throughout New Jersey since 2007.

Thanks to generous sponsorships from local businesses, Shore Flicks is able to show movies all summer at no charge. Sponsors this year include Saker ShopRites, New Jersey Natural Gas, ShoreSportsZone.com, Howell Heating & Cooling, and the Asbury Park Film Initiative.
