Report: Early Rentals Ahead of 2012 and 2013 in Ocean City

Fifty inches of snow over the winter may be driving people to rent in the city early this year.

The number of shore rentals in Ocean City is already ahead of where it was in 2012 and 2013, NBC Philadelphia reports.

The owner of Jesse Real Estate in Ocean City told NBC his firm is up by about 10 percent.

The rise in early rentals may be due to the desire of families to get away after an onslaught of snow that took the region captive. More than 50 inches of snow blanketed the region so far this winter.

That same snowfall might keep potential renters away. With school districts cancelling days of school due to snow, children may be in school later into June than normal, making for a later and shorter summer in 2014.
