A groundbreaking ceremony for the playground takes place
Thursday, May 15, 10 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony expected for Sunday,
May 18, Councilman Antwan McClellan said during Thursday night's council meeting at city hall.
The playground will be dedicated to Benjamin Wheeler, a sixth-grader who was killed in the shootings.
The playground is part of a group of playgrounds the Where Angels Play Foundation is constructing in honor of victims of Superstorm Sandy and the Sandy Hook shootings. The project is known as the Sandy Ground Project.
