Report: Construction on Sandy Ground Project Playground Begins May 15

The playground is part of a project that creates 26 living memorials for children impacted by Superstorm Sandy and the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Work will begin on a new playground in Ocean City on May 15, ocnjdaily.com reports.

The playground will be located at 29th Street and West Avenue, and is part of the Sandy Ground Project, according to the report.

The goal of the project is to create 26 living memorials to children impacted by violence following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut and the damage cause by Superstorm Sandy, according to thesandygroundproject.org.

The playground in Ocean City will be the 22nd playground, and will be named after a 6-year-old who was killed during the shootings, according to the report.
