Ocean City Native Who Fought in World War II to Lead Galloway Independence Day Parade

Roland "Rocky" Gannon will lead the annual parade, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

An Ocean City native who served as a pilot during World War II will lead the Galloway Township Fourth of July parade, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

Roland “Rocky” Gannon was 17 when he enlisted in the Air Force, and 20 when he was flying B-52 bombers, according to the report.

The parade, which has become among the largest in the state over the years, leaves Smithville Boulevard around 9 a.m. and heads down Moss Mill Road. The annual post-parade celebration takes place at Historic Smithville, 615 East Moss Mill Road.
