The Ocean City Youth Athletic Association's 11- and 12-year-old Little League team recently won the District 16 championship for the first time in history. The team went on to win several more games in the Little League sectional tournament in Hammonton before finally being eliminated.

Ocean City can be proud of this talented group of kids, not just for their baseball skill, but for the dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the season. They represented our community very well!

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who have helped the Ocean City Youth Athletic Association serve hundreds of local children each year since 1956.

Switching to soccer, the Ocean City Nor'easters gained national attention this summer as they completed the most successful season in the history of the franchise.

With a record of 11-2-1 the Nor'easters won the Premier Development League's (PDL) Eastern Conference Championship.  They went on to compete in the PDL National Championship in Austin, Texas.

Prior to their League success, the Nor'easters had a great run in the U.S. Open Cup where they finally fell just minutes short of upsetting the professional MLS team the Philadelphia Union.

I would like to congratulate Nor'easters President Giancarlo Granese, General Manger Neil Holloway and coach Tim Oswald and all of their talented players for representing Ocean City so well.  This is a first class organization that partners with the City throughout the year offering youth soccer clinics, camps and other programs.  They've become a great part of "America's Greatest Family Resort!"

Warm Regards,

Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
