Fishermen Net 125 Pound Mako Shark off Jersey Shore

The group included a captain that has caught about 50 sharks previously

A group of fishermen, including a captain that has captured at least 50 sharks in the past, captured a 125 pound mako shark in Avalon recently.

The shark when the group was finally able to get it on the boat after reeling it in for 30 minutes, so they threw it back into the water and waited a little while before bringing it back on board, Chasing New Jersey reports.

This is not the first shark sighting along the Jersey Shore this summer.

Two weeks ago, a group of fishermen had a close encounter with a great white shark when it swam up to their boat and ate their bait right off the side.

A great white was also seen off Monmouth Beach on June 15.

In May, an app developed by the non-profit organization Ocearch detected a 16-foot great white shark off the coast of Atlantic City.
