Dunkin' Donuts Owner Aims to Give Away 100,000 Cups of Coffee

Arun Mandi is giving away coupons to those affected by Superstorm Sandy.

When Hurricane Sandy hit the southern New Jersey coastline, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and New Jersey resident Arun Mandi decided he needed to do something to help as many people as he could within his community and launched a program to distribute 100,000 free coffee coupons to those affected by the storm.

Mandi and his local team are distributing 100,000 “Be My Guest” Cards — vouchers for one free medium cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee — to organizations supporting individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy, as well as those who are assisting with the recovery efforts. The cards are valid at any Dunkin’ Donuts location in New Jersey’s Atlantic and Cape May counties.

“Dunkin’ Donuts is proud to be a part of Atlantic and Cape May Counties and we are committed to doing all we can to help our community,” said Mandi, owner of 23 Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. “We hope to reach as many people as possible with these cards as a small way to help those who lost so much and to thank those working tirelessly to help our community recover.”

Thousands of cards have already been distributed to several local organizations in the region including OCNJ C.A.R.E., True Spirit Coalition events in Brigantine and others who are directly helping those in need. Mandi’s group also made a $5,000 donation to OCNJ C.A.R.E and helped to bring a Dunkin’ Donuts truck with hot coffee to an American Red Cross shelter in Atlantic City just days after the storm.

"Dunkin’ Donuts has consistently been a positive force and proactive community partner in Ocean City,” said Michele Gillian, OCNJ C.A.R.E Project.  “We are so grateful for their generosity toward those affected by Hurricane Sandy as well as their generous contribution to the OCNJ C.A.R.E. Project."
