Broadway Veteran Vanessa Shaw to Perform at Mr. Mature America Pageant

Miss New Jersey Senior America 2013 will perform at the inaugural Mr. Mature America Pageant, city officials announced on Monday.

Vanessa Show will perform at the event at the Ocean City Music Pier on March 22, 7 p.m.

She will also crown the pageant winner.

Shaw’s performed on Broadway opposite Eartha Kitt, Robert Goulet and Debbie Allen, among others. She’s performed in shows such as Camelot, Porgy and Bess, and The King and I, among others.

JoAnne Santori, the executive director of the Miss New Jersey Senior America Pageant, previously stated she wanted to put together a similar pageant. She met with Mr. Mature America Pageant organizers this week to arrange Shaw’s appearance.

Soprano Nancy Fox will sing a song written specifically for the occasion.

The Mr. Mature America pageant is the first in the country to honor men over the age of 60. The pageant will be preceded by a performance by the Bubba Mac Blues Band. The band is made up entirely of men over the age of 60.

Tickets are $10 with proceeds benefitting the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard and the Philippine Relief Fund. Call 609-525-9300 to order tickets.
