Atlantic City Electric Prepared For Weather-Related Outages

The electric company is prepared to adjust its workforce as snow begins to fall across the state.

Atlantic City Electric is prepared to adjust its workforce to deal with weather-related issues, the electric company announced on Tuesday.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the area through 6 a.m. Wednesday, with the possibility of between eight inches and one foot of snow accumulation. A wind chill advisory is in effect from 1 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Heavy snow, icing and strong winds can increase the possibility of downed wires and associated power outages. The increased likelihood of vehicles striking utility poles as the result of hazardous road conditions can also cause downed wires.

Atlantic City Electric has about 135 internal linemen and contractors already working on its system who are available if needed.

Customers need to be prepared for the possibility of power outages, especially given the forecast for bitter cold. The electric company asks customers to call in any outages and stay away from any down wires. To report outages and/or downed wires, call 1-800-833-7476, follow the prompts, and ask for a call back to confirm that power has been restored. Outages also may be reported through atlanticcityelectric.com or through the mobile app available for download at www.atlanticcityelectric.com/mobileapp.
