American Victim in Malaysian Airline Crash Had Ties to South Jersey

Quinn Lucas Schansman, 19, the only American identified as a victim in the Malaysian jet that was shot down over eastern Ukraine, has family in Deptford, nj.com reports.

He was born in Fort Lee and moved to Holland with his family when he was five years old, according to the report.

His great-aunt lives in Deptford.

President Barack Obama confirmed Schansman was on Airlines Flight MH17 that was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. He was set to join the rest of his family, which was vacationing in Malaysia.

He was a Dutch student with dual citizenship in the United States and the Netherlands.
