The annual " Greatest Freckles" competition was recently held at the Music Pier.
I don't mean to be a party pooper but freckles to a Board Certified Dermatologist are the sign of sun damage.
Parents should educate their children to use sunscreen regularly on sunny days. Wide brimmed hats to shade the face are also important.
Communities should not trivialize freckles with competitions such as this.
Freckles are the precursors of premalignant and ultimately skin cancers. There is nothing cutesie when a basal or squamous cell develops
