The rationale expressed by Mr. Allegretto and supported by Mr. Hartzell for the loss of more than a quarter of the Ocean City population is "people had a lottery ticket in their homes and they cashed out."
That sums up what our community means to the realtors/insiders and why it's time for new people to be serving in city government.
Regarding Mr. Hartzell's assertion that are 4.9 Police/ 1000 citizens being an economically good ratio he should read the study of Project America. This non-partisan online educational organization puts the US ratio at 2.3.
This applied to Ocean City would mean 25 full time officers. We currently have more than twice that number in a dry town at that. We the full time residents pay for that extra # in more ways than we should.
