Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey Seeks Volunteers

Each year, Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey relies on the help of volunteers to house more than 800 seriously ill children and their families. Currently, the House is looking for volunteers to serve as Around-the-House Helpers and Drivers at its location in Camden. The nonprofit is also in need of volunteers to serve as Family Room assistants at various hospitals and medical facilities throughout South Jersey where Ronald McDonald House operates a Family Room. The Family Rooms provide a place for parents, siblings and extended family members to rest and relax while still remaining close to their hospitalized child.

Around-the-House Helpers are needed on weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Some of their responsibilities include giving tours of the House, answering the telephone, assisting community groups with meals and activities, and helping office staff with mailings and event planning. Drivers are needed at the House to drive families to and from the hospital on Monday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteer drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have a good driving record. Training, directions, insurance and the Ronald McDonald House vehicle will be provided.

Family Room assistants serve as friendly greeters, welcoming parents to the family room, putting out snacks and creating a comforting environment. The following locations need volunteers:
