Ocean City Recipient of Environmental Quality Award

Ocean City has been awarded the annual “Environmental Quality Award” by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council, a statewide, comprehensive program to reduce litter, promote volunteer clean-up of public lands and sustain a reduction in little through education.

Ocean City was honored as host of the sixth annual Environmental Student Exchange on March 20 as a part of the Adopt-A-Beach program. Hundreds of students around the state participated in the program, which included beach cleanups, a “litter march” on the boardwalk, music and awards.

“We appreciated Ocean City’s involvement in this event, in which students came together and shared ideas on environmental issues related to litter and the proper handling of waste,” explained Sandy Huber, executive director of NJ Clean Communities. “It is a great program for students from all points all New Jersey to learn about issues affecting our oceans and bays, and work together on solutions.”
