Friends and fellow firefighters are planning a "Throw Down for Danny" on May 6 at the Ocean City Yacht Club. The event will benefit Danny Margagliano, a firefighter in South Walton, FL, who broke his neck April 16 in a dive off a boat into shallow water.

Margagliano, 36, was born and raised in Upper Township, graduated from Ocean City High School and earned a reputation as a legendary local surfer before moving to Florida several years ago.

The “Throw Down for Danny” will be held 2 to 6 p.m Sunday at the Yacht Club. The $25 admission includes food, live entertainment and a Chinese Auction courtesy of local vendors. Refreshments also will be available.

All proceeds will help Margagliano and his family with medical expenses. 

Margagliano's spinal cord injury left him paralyzed. His wife, April, son Ethan, and daughter Summer have been affected greatly by the tragic accident and are currently struggling, according to Bricker.
