The headline in the July 13, 2011 Ocean City Sentinel reported the good news: “OCBP dashes to county lifeguard championship; Ocean City repeats as champ after trailing 3 other patrols coming into the final event.”

The Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) lifeguards pictured above were on the winning surf dash team: (from left) Tony Mehalic, Dan Casey, Ian Kosten and Dylan Kosten.  Others scoring for the OCBP were: Andrew Mockaitis and Dylan Kosten placed second in the doubles row; Dan Callaghan placed second on the rescue board; Brian Pauling placed fourth in the swim; and Dylan Kosten placed third in the singles row.

The 29th annual Cape May County Lifeguard Championships will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 6 p.m., on the Rambler Road beach in Wildwood.
