John T. Goudy Memorial Rescue Race Set for Friday
The Ocean City Beach Patrol won the 1979 John T. Goudy Memorial Rescue Races by winning three of the four events.
It was the first year the OCBP competed in the Goudys. The team members were, from the left: Tom Ashley, Tom Morrison, Mike Jankowski, Tom Montemagni, Guy Esten, Mike Grimes, Chuck Youtzy, Ron Kirk, Gene Fagan, Sid Cassidy and Paul Rudzitis.
The 46th annual John T. Goudy Memorial Rescue Races will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, on the Suffolk Avenue beach in Ventnor.

This is the only south jersey lifeguard event that actually tests life guarding skills.........rowing straight out to sea for a half mile and back is not realistic, as in the south jersey championships
