A weekly recap of the past week's news.

This week we saw an accident at the beach in Long Branch that killed a boy, reported on the new provisional Ocean City fire chief and saw a new sculpture.

Here are some highlights from the past week's news:

On Monday, we saw three ribbon cuttings in Ocean City, posted a police activity report, took a look at the weather and saw a junior firefighter camp grow in popularity.

On Tuesday, we saw a resident repeat his criticisms of the city's marina deal, reported that the Beesleys Point Bridge will be demolished, looked at the Ocean City Pops schedule, and posted a picture of the new sculpture outside of the community center.

On Wednesday, we announced that the Ocean City Community Association will host a forum about proposed roads, met the woman who makes costumes for the Ocean City Theatre Company, reported that a boy whose sand tunnel collapsed on him died, saw the Ocean City Board of Education honor students and retirees, listed five things to know from Wednesday's school board meeting and reported that AT&T has expanded wireless coverage in Ocean City.

On Thursday, we saw the threat of storms cancel family night on the Boardwalk, reported on a tribute to the Philippines and took a look at an annual bike auction.

On Friday, we posted a letter from a resident about roads, announced a fine arts and handcrafts festival and reported that the new Ocean City fire chief is still provisional.

On Saturday, we posted an image of Boardwalk and Ninth Street and told the story of a family that visits Ocean City every year.
