Video: Healing and Rebuilding in Ocean City
Patch reader John Thornton makes a film about contractor Jeffrey Holloway and healing after the record flooding of Sandy.
South-end resident John Thornton, a teacher at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, passed along a link to his latest creation: a short film about his friend Jeffrey Holloway, who appeared recently on the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer with a story headlined the "Grueling Road Back."
In the film, Holloway, who is a home remodeler, talks about what it will take for Ocean City to heal from the devastation of the recent storm Sandy.
Holloway has filmed a series of his own videos as a public service: on working with contractors, insurance agents and reconstructing after the storm. See Jeffrey Holloway's videos.

John Thornton did a great job on this and we should listen to Jeffrey Holloway. There has been too much building in Ocean City - too much black top and concrete. Cutting down trees for recreational purposes - trees that were needed to soak up flood waters. Yes Ocean City does not learn from its mistakes. They never learn to leave the wetlands alone even with 60% of them are gone already. There should be a resolution not to touch wetlands for any reason but in Ocean City the quick money and tourist attraction rules and no one wises up even when there is a blatant message sent like Hurricane Sandy.

Thanks Jonathan and I agree with you entirely. The natural environment is so beautiful down here and it is heart breaking to see the erosion in Corson's Inlet State Park.

Why should anyone look at climate change, floods, people losing their homes, Loss of life in a negative way? Why should anyone (besides all the scientists) try and point out that there has been too much loss of wetlands already and arbitrarily (and illegally) cutting down trees is wrong? Ocean City is about making a quick buck for the realtors and developers and getting as much attention for the narcissists No negativity is called for with pictures of people struggling in waist high water. Just silly
