In the meantime, we saw the last big rain of the foreseeable future on Tuesday evening. That means the skies should be dry for Ocean City's (Dec. 31) and (Jan. 1) celebrations this weekend (there's a chance of light rain on Friday night and Saturday morning). Long-range forecasts call for lows in the mid-30s for First Night and highs above 50 degrees for First Day.
Those who plan to brave the "" in the Atlantic Ocean on Jan. 1 will have it relatively easy. The ocean water temperature was 48 degrees on Tuesday. The water temp for last year's plunge was 38 degrees.

Strong south winds from Tuesday's storm are expected to turn offshore on Wednesday morning, so surfers may want to check the waves early — before the swell gets blown flat.
