The effects of what could be the biggest story of our lives was captured by photographer Tom McKelvey, who caught these images of a small boat trying to navigate heavy surf off the Shark River Inlet Sunday afternoon.

We are looking for people to provide a service, and inform the readers about the effects of the first hurricane to directly strike the Jersey Shore in recorded history.

Hi John... yes I was there in 62 for the "March Storm". I was eleven. Most of the south end was destroyed. We have bunches of photos of the devastation. Luckily, we always moved to town for the winter months and just had to hunker down and live with the power outage. Plymouth Inn still had power and fed a lot of people, or cooked their food for them before it went bad.
