Schools Take Back Vacation Days Thursday and Friday

Ocean City schools will be open Nov. 8 and 9.

The Ocean City Board of Education made it official on Monday: Students will be back in class on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday and Friday (Nov. 8 and 9) had originally been scheduled as vacation days for students during the annual NJEA Teacher's Convention. But because the convention was cancelled, so were the days off.

The rescheduling of school days for Nov. 8 and 9 will help the district make up for losing five days of classes last week after a massive coastal storm led to record flooding and a mandatory evacuation of the island.

The Leadership Club Scholarship Dinner has been rescheduled for Nov. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ocean City High School cafeteria.
