School Board Honors Essay Contest Winners

The Ocean City Board of Education on Wednesday night (Feb. 27) recognized Ocean City High School students Justin Smith, Isabelle Benvenuti, Jamie Taylor and Steven Pashuck for their achievements in the Cape May County Voice of Democracy contest.
Voice of Democracy is a national essay and speech competition, created in 1947, that awards scholarships to competing students. Contestants delivered 3- to 5-minute speeches answering the question, "Is the Constitution still relevant today?"
Winners advance in the national competition, which includes $2.2 million in scholarships. The contest is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Congrats to all four Ocean City High School students on winning the essay contest. It is good to know that our students are interested in government. The question was a good one for them to answer.
