Police Assessment Team Invites Public Comment

Ocean City is seeking accreditation from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.

Chief Chad C. Callahan announced today that a team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) will arrive April 29, 2012, to examine all aspects of the Ocean City Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

Verification by the team that the Ocean City Police Department meets the Commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation — a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

As part of the on-site assessment, employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments, via a telephone call-in session from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30. The public may call 609-525-9147 to gain access to the assessment team.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with NJSACOP standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Ocean City Police Department at 835 Central Avenue.
