Ocean City Home Bank Donates to Charities

The Ocean City Home Charitable Foundation awards $50,000 in grants to 20 nonprofits.

 

From community food banks to career opportunities for veterans, and from music education to marine mammal rescue, the Ocean City Home Charitable Foundation continues to support charitable causes in Atlantic and Cape May counties.

At the organization’s semiannual awards reception on July 18, the Foundation distributed a total of $50,000 in grants to 20 nonprofit organizations, including:

  •             American Veterans Post 911
  •             Atlantic Cape Family Support
  •             Atlantic City Ballet
  •             Atlantic Riding Center for Health
  •             Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial
  •             Cape May Council on Alcohol
  •             CASA of Atlantic and Cape May County
  •             Child Federation of Atlantic City
  •             Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools
  •             CONTACT Cape-Atlantic
  •             Friends of the Ocean City Pops
  •             Just Sailing
  •             Literacy Volunteers Association Cape-Atlantic
  •             Make-A-Wish Foundation
  •             Marine Mammal Stranding Center
  •             Ocean City Ecumenical Council
  •             Ocean City Fine Arts League
  •             Ocean City Historical Museum
  •             Schultz-Hill Foundation
  •             U.S. Lifesaving Station 30

“Since its founding in 1887, Ocean City Home Bank has actively supported the community, through volunteer efforts, financial contributions, and more recently, through grants from the Ocean City Home Charitable Foundation,” explained Charitable Foundation President Jean Jacobson.  “As the bank celebrates its 125th year of service, it is especially gratifying to assist these worthwhile organizations that share our dedication to improving our communities and helping those in need.”

Since the Ocean City Home Charitable Foundation awarded its first grants in 2005, the organization has donated over $740,000 to charitable organizations throughout Atlantic and Cape May counties.

It is wonderful and admirable how Ocean City Home Bank contributes to our community and area needs. What an impressive amount of money! It is a shame, however, that for all of their fundraising efforts, the bank feels that it can no longer support offering passbooks to its customers due to "cost effectiveness."
