Marx Brothers and Irish Hooley Highlight Upcoming Events

Get out for some fun March 15 and 17.

If you can break away from the madness of the NCAA basketball tournament (or just don't care about it), two upcoming events promise some great entertainment on Thursday and Saturday nights.

FLYWHEEL, SHYSTER and FLYWHEEL: A re-creation of the Marx Brothers radio comedy show will be held 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Main Lecture Room of the Ocean City Free Public Library. This hilarious comedy routine introduced the Marx Brothers in 1932 on NBC Radio. The show features a cast of professionals including Ron and Rachel MacCloskey, Michael Jarmus and Michael Townsend Wright, several of whom are Broadway actors. This show is currently touring the East and has received outstanding reviews. MacCloskey and Wright are professional comedians who also will appear in Ocean City during Doo Dah Weekend, April 13 and 14.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY SPECIAL: The Ocean City Repertory Theater, 813 Asbury Ave., presents an Irish Hooley at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the joy of being Irish with food, song, music, dance, storytelling, poetry, good conversation and "irresistible merriment." Tickets are $10 per person. Proceeds benefit the Repertory Theater’s artistic education programs. For information call, (609) 457-6686 or visit www.ocrep.org.

My Uncle was the drummer on the Groucho Marx t.v. show, you bet your life. So, in a round about way, I feel a strong connection to anything that has anything to do wth Groucho Marx. It's nice to see that people still appreciate The Marx Brothers. Makes me feel good inside. My Uncles name is Tommy Romersa.
