For years, the Little Miss Ocean City Pageant has provided scholarships to the 8-to 11-year-old contestants.

The Little Miss Ocean City will be held this year on Friday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. on the Ocean City Music Pier. Tickets are $10 at the Music Pier Box Office.

Twenty-one girls will compete for the title that includes a scholarship and the privilege of representing Ocean City at many events during the year.

Little Miss Ocean City 2012 Cassidy Diamond looks back on her year and has only hope for the future.

"This year has been really fun," Diamond said. "Going to the events has been amazing. At times it has been hectic, but I have loved every minute of it." 

Mary Beth Neil, Kristie Fenton and other city employees work hard to make the event a success. This year, the pageant has a 1970s theme. The girls have been rehearsing for a couple weeks, and are very excited to perform in front of many.

"The 21 girls are all very talented, and I hope they will go far in the future," Diamond said.
