Historical Images: Scarborough Inn Open Since 1890s
Our weekly feature includes photographs from the Ocean City Historical Museum collection and from the modern era.
This week's "Then and Now" features the at 720 Ocean Avenue.
The Hotel Scarborough, as it was originally known, has been welcoming guests to Ocean City since the mid-1890s. The Scarborough has been owned and operated by a number of families through the years. Some of the families include the Workmans, the Perkins and members of the Jernee Family.
The family patriarch, Jack Jernee, was instrumental in starting the Ocean City Life Guard Association (which became the Ocean City Beach Patrol). Gus and Carol Bruno purchased the property in 1988 and operate it today as The Scarborough Inn B&B. Their website has a more in-depth history of the inn.
