As a builder and a local homeowner I've spent endless hours with FEMA unerstanding the literature of grants and timelines offered. The house raising and flood elevations are a subject that wont be finalized for months to come. Hopefully we can have patience as Ocean City residents and be optimistic I know its tough financially and mentally Good Luck Everyone!

Does the term "ward citizens" who are invited to this meeting include shoobies who own a second hme in the ward?

As I read the post and knowing Pete "All are welcome" means all are welcome. If you are full time or summer resident Pete always represents everyone

Knowing Pete vaguely, I think "stake holders" would be a better term. If you are a year 'round resident, 2nd home owner, or resident renter, he'd like to have you attend.

Do shoobies pay less in taxes than year round residents? No Do shoobies use less services than year round residents? Yes

Nice to know that, I guess, its OK for a shoobie second home owner to attend. But I'm not sure if the above comment means that I should not because I don't meet those specified "qualifications" that a year-rounder would. We shoobies never know how we'll be treated by the year rounders. All too often there is an attitude of "stay out of town so you don't cause crowds and otherwise affect our lifestyles, but be sure and keep sending money".

Suggest you chat with a few senior citizen year rounders, especially those who have retired there, former shoobies if you will. They like their (comparatively) low taxes, especially for the schools. And since their economic fortunes are not impacted by the shoobies many have the attitude of "I'm here, now shut the door!"

I own a second home in the ward and only recently had contact with Pete. He has personally answered my letters to the councilmen when i wrote about FEMA floodmap concerns. The thought that Pete wouldn't welcome EVERYONE is definitely not an accurate description of that man.

The councilman may welcome everyone but it will be interesting to see if there are chants of "Go home shoobie" coming from the attendees!

quite frankly, if i personally hear one comment of "go home shoobie" or anything along those lines i will be disgusted. there are many of us who are second home owners who are trying very hard to help the 4th ward. without our tax dollars, this city would cease to exist. go to southend.com this website, while not started by me, came to fruition from a group of southenders- 1st, 2nd and even 3rd home owners. we all get along and ALL are working for the betterment of the southend.

Tried southend.com, it is for a computer company. In any event, I'll bet a southend web page has its principal focus as beach replenishment below 36th Street. That's a project that should be undertaken, but the city fathers seem to mostly shrug their shoulders about doing so. Perhaps because its mostly shoobies, that is non-voters, who would benefit.

The second homeowners in the south end have been neglected, ignored and abused but NOT by the present 4th Ward representative, Pete or the past 4th ward representative, Roy. We have been represented well and continue to be by these guys, but the administraition, past and present totally neglects the south end of Ocean City. The administration past and present has allowed the south end to be neglected and under certain circumstances, abused. Frankly, it is disgusting!!!

And I agree, that certain locals have been not just unwelcoming to 2nd homeowners, but hostile. This needs to stop - how about you stopping it for one, Mr. Worrell? How about you rising above yourself and a few of your best buddies, and stop being antagonistice to 2nd homeowners who may have the gall not to agree with you on every subject. As equal taxpayers, all homeowners in Ocean City have equal rights.

Well I was a second home owner wel before I became a ful time resident. I am a retired and chose Ocean City as a place to retire to. I have always welcomed full time homeowners as wel as second home owners in all respects.I Cannot speak for the political leaders but my only statement was Pete and the councilmen Roy have always worked tirelessly for the south end and Ocean City as a whole and to my knowledge have always treated EVERYONE with an attitude of what can they do to help .As to myself I ask when have I ever been antagonistice to anyone full time or second home owners.Going back to my original post on this subject "Pete welcomes everyone to his fourth ward meetings and works hard for all taxpayers "

Read what you said here - but also what you have said many times and ways before. So I will just be optimistic that you have turned over a new leaf and decided to treat all your neighbors with respect, even those with whom you may disagree.

Hey there are narrow minded people wherever you go. They may be vocal but they are often in the minority. I apologize for anyone here who treats second homeowners as second class citizens, but realize that a lot of us don't feel the same way. Don't condemn the lot of us because of the few. I have stated it before and I will state it again. I think second homeowners should have representation. They have as much at stake in this town as anyone else.

I hear all the p & m but what I don't hear is anyone doing anything abouit it. What second home owners need to do is to organize and petition for representation. There is no reason I know of why an at large council seat cannot be assigned to represent second home owners. If you can't vote for a representative at least one can be assigned.
