County Representatives to Discuss Bay Ave. Parking, Services

The representatives will speak at the Ocean City Community Association's meeting on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the Ocean City Free Public Library.

This Saturday's Ocean City Community Association meeting will feature several county representatives, including Freeholders Kristine Gabor and Susan Sheppard as well as county engineer Dale Foster.

Among the items that will be discussed, according to the association's president, Curt Gronert, will be a no-parking zone on Bay Avenue. The no parking zone affects teachers at Ocean City Intermediate School, but, according to an article from The Gazette, the zone is unenforceable.

The county representatives will also discuss the types of services that Ocean City residents receive from the county. Ocean City is the largest contributor of real estate taxes to the county and the second largest municipality by population, according to a press release from OCCA.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Ocean City Free Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 25.

so the teachers / staff will have to find parking in the side streets of the local neiborhood, that should make the residents very happy . And then there is the safety aspect of the teachers/staff crossing Bay Ave twice a day within the mix of school buses and parent traffic. This paint job is starting to sound like a dumb idea?

This was a major over-reach by the mayor. Every teacher and every parent should clog Spruce to thank him.

It's clear that neither of you are familiar with the total mayhem at the OCIS every morning and every afternoon. This IS a safety issue. It's amazing that there has not been a diststrous accident recently. There is ample parking on the north, south and east side of the school property for teachers and staff. This is the right thing to do.

How often does one need to drop their children off and pick them up after school to be familiar with the area???

They should turn the soccer field north of the school into a parking lot.

Everyone is in such a rush that they just cant take the time to stop and look. also I hate the summer time when people just don''t know any of the laws and rules. For ex- IF YOU ARE IN A CROSSWALK ON A BIKE you are a VEHICLE!!! I bet we can stop a lot of this accidents.. I also think that they need to talk about this!
