County Dispels Rumor of Intentional Outage by Atlantic City Electric

The electric company says rumors are false.

 

Atlantic County officials denied rumors that Atlantic City Electric will be turning off power to the barrier islands Sunday morning, Oct. 28.

According to county officials, there are rumors circulating that the electric company will be turning off power to the barrier islands following the mandatory evacuation at 4 p.m. Sunday.

"Atlantic City Electric has confirmed this is a false rumor," Atlantic County Public Information Officer Linda Gilmore said in a release.

The islands are being evacuated ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Sandy.
