The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce announces that Veronica “Ronnie” Town, senior public affairs manager for Atlantic City Electric, will receive the 2012 Salute to Working Women Award and will be honored at the April 25 Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at the Ocean City Yacht Club. 

The award recognizes women in business for their outstanding professional and personal achievements. Michelle Dawn Mooney, news anchor for NBC40, will be the guest speaker for the event.

Town began her career in customer service and has held many positions through her 27 years at Atlantic City Electric. As the senior public affairs manager, she works as a community liaison. She is responsible for developing relationships with customers, stakeholders and government officials.

As part of their speaker’s bureau program, Town speaks at local organization meetings. Energy efficiency, restoration processes and future plans are important topics often discussed.

Town also coordinates Atlantic City Electric’s community presence plan. She chairs the committee that makes decisions on donations and contributions within their eight-county service area.

Being active in the community, Town has led her Walk to Defeat ALS team to be the top corporate fundraisers with more than $5,000. She has volunteered on the Child Placement Review Board for 25 years, is the immediate past chair of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
