Ocean City's schedule of events shows no signs of slowing down in September. Click on each header for more details on these weekend happenings.
WHEN/WHERE: 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Deauville Inn in Strathmere, 201 Willard Avenue.
WHY GO: Admission is good for barbecue, drinks and music, and all proceeds benefit the Ocean City Police Department K-9 and Motorcycle units.
HOW MUCH: $25 with tickets available at the door.
2. INVITATIONAL SURF FISHING TOURNAMENT
WHEN/WHERE: Registration at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Ocean City Intermediate School.
WHY GO: Contest prizes, door prizes and a light lunch follow six hours of fishing at the best time of year.
HOW MUCH: $50 for teams of six or $10 for individuals.
WHEN/WHERE: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at City Hall Annex, Ninth Street and Asbury Ave.
WHY GO: Fresh local produce will be available at the Fall Farmers Market every Saturday through Oct.1.
HOW MUCH: No admission fee.
4. OCEAN CITY AIRPORT FESTIVAL
WHEN/WHERE: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Ocean City Municipal Airport, 2600 Bay Ave.
WHY GO: The event includes displays of rare aircraft and antique autos. It also includes family activities like kite-flying demonstrations and face-painting.
HOW MUCH: Free
WHEN/WHERE: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Ocean City Music Pier.
WHY GO: A variety of young singers, musicians and dancers perform in a fundraiser for the American Heart Society.
HOW MUCH: $10 with tickets available at door. Children under age 12 are free.
6. ZUMBATHON AND MINI-GOLF CHALLENGE
WHEN/WHERE: 10 a.m.-noon (Zumbathon) and noon-2 p.m. (Mini-Golf Challenge) Sunday, Sept. 18.
WHY GO: Two events benefit the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cape May and Atlantic counties. A Zumbathon is set for 10 a.m. till noon at the Sports and Civic Center, Sixth Street just off Boardwalk. And a miniature golf event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Playland's Castaway Cove, 10th and Boardwalk.
HOW MUCH:$25 for each event or $35 for both.
7. AEROBATIC AIR SHOW
WHEN/WHERE: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, along the beach and Boardwalk between First and 23rd streets.
WHY GO: To see a variety of stunt pilots in single planes and groups performing over the ocean.
HOW MUCH: Free
8. OCEAN CITY POPS AND BOSTON BRASS
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Ocean City High School's Hughes Performing Arts Center, Sixth Street and Atlantic Avenue.
WHY GO: The Boston Brass treats audiences to classical arrangements and jazz standards. This will be great music coupled with boisterous fun.
