Beach Report: Ocean Temp Hits 80 Degrees

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

In the shallow surf Monday morning at 14th Street, we measured 80 degrees for an ocean temperature. That's the warmest of the year and a mark that Ocean City often goes years without seeing.

The weather station on Atlantic City's Steel Pier is reporting 79.9 degrees at 7 a.m. on Monday.

The ocean remains glassy calm with no surf. The forecast calls for southwest winds to pick up speed throughout the day. That could mean two things: choppier surf and cooler water. But it doesn't appear that things will change too quickly.

Surf: There's still no surf on Monday morning. We're looking at waves of a foot or less. Keep your eye on the long-term forecasts at the surf shop sites linked below for the outlook in the tropics, which are startig to heat up. Low tide is at 3:12 p.m.
