$10 Buys Unlimited Rides and Helps Veterans on June 27

Community Quest's annual FUNday takes place at Playland's Castaway Cove.

Purchase of a $10 wristband on Wednesday, June 27, will be good for unlimited rides, mini-golf and go-karts from 1 to 5 p.m. at Playland's Castaway Cove at 10th Street and Boardwalk.

The annual "FUNday at Playland" is a fundraiser for Community Quest Inc., which provides housing and employment programs for disadvantaged people. The organization is currently working to build permanent housing for veterans in Tuckerton and hopes to do the same soon in Cape May County, where Middle Township is willing to donate land, according to Jennifer Kelly, the Community Quest public relations and events coordinator.

The event raised $28,000 last year and is made possible through Playland owner Scott Simpson.

"The fact that Scott gives us 100 percent of the proceeds is awesome," Kelly said.

Rain date for the event is Friday, June 29. Event organizers request that all children are accompanied by adults.

Anybody interested in volunteering during the event, can find more information on the Community Quest website.
