Bocce

  • September 2, 2012

Once a week during the summer months, residents of the 700, 800 and 900 blocks of Pennlyn Place in Ocean City gather together for a night of Bocce.  For many of the participants, it is a return to their Ancestor’s European roots.  It is an informal get together on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights.  Participants range in ages from 8 to 82 years of age.  The lighter weeks see a group of 12-14 while the well attended weeks can see the turnout swell to 26-28.  This summer, players visiting from France and Sweden also participated.

The group is known as the Pennlyn Place Bocce Ball Association (PPBBA) and the regulars have t-shirts indicating this.

The PPBBA has gotten quite good at Bocce and is available for any challengers!
